A$AP Rocky

Born and raised in Harlem, Rakim Athelston Mayers records under the name A$AP Rocky, a stage name he took from the ASAP Mob collective he joined in 2007. His sound grew out of the cloud rap that his 2011 single "Peso" brought to mainstream attention after it leaked online that August and started receiving radio airplay within weeks. He is also a producer, fashion designer, model and actor, and that spread of interests runs through much of what he has made since.

He signed to Polo Grounds Music, an imprint of RCA Records, and released the mixtape Live. Love. A$AP that October. The 2012 single "Fuckin' Problems", featuring Drake, 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar, gave him his first Billboard Hot 100 entry, at number eight, and a Best Rap Song nomination at the 56th Grammys. His debut album, Long. Live. A$AP (2013), debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, as did its successor, At. Long. Last. A$AP (2015). Testing (2018) reached the top five, and Don't Be Dumb (2026) returned him to number one. He founded the AWGE agency and label in 2014 and, as of 2025, is creative director for Puma F1 and Ray-Ban.
