About Amy Helm
Amy Helm has spent much of her career working in the wings of other people's projects before stepping forward under her own name. Born in 1970 to the drummer Levon Helm and the singer Libby Titus, she grew up between Woodstock, Los Angeles and Manhattan, and her singing draws on that mix of roots music and New York club life. Her solo work sits where blues, folk and Americana meet.
In 1999 she joined her father's blues band, The Barn Burners, and in 2001 she co-founded the alt-country group Ollabelle, whose albums include Riverside Battle Songs (2006) and Neon Blue Bird (2011). In 2004 she and her father began the Midnight Ramble concerts at his Woodstock home, which started as a rent party. Levon Helm's Dirt Farmer, produced with Amy and Larry Campbell, won the 2008 Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album. Her debut solo album, Didn't It Rain, arrived in 2015 and featured her father's final drum recordings. This Too Shall Light, recorded with Joe Henry in Los Angeles, came out on Yep Roc Records in September 2018.
