About Anberlin
Anberlin's story starts in Winter Haven, Florida, where high school friends Stephen Christian and Deon Rexroat formed the punk band SaGoh 24/7 in 1998. When that project wound down, Christian, Joseph Milligan and Rexroat turned a side project towards rock, and Anberlin emerged in 2002. Today the American alternative rock group features Matty Mullins on vocals, alongside guitarists Joseph Milligan and Christian McAlhaney, bassist Deon Rexroat and drummer Nathan Young.
Blueprints for the Black Market arrived in 2003 on Tooth & Nail Records, lifted by the single "Readyfuels" and selling over 60,000 copies despite missing the charts. Never Take Friendship Personal followed in 2005, reaching No. 144 on the Billboard 200, and Cities in 2007 debuted at No. 19 with 34,000 first-week sales. After signing to Universal Republic, New Surrender (2008) peaked at No. 13, and "Feel Good Drag" topped the Alternative Songs chart after 29 weeks. A 2014 disbandment announcement gave way to a 2019 reunion tour, and the Silverline EP appeared in July 2022. In October 2023 Matty Mullins replaced Stephen Christian, who stepped back from touring indefinitely.
