About Angelika Express
Angelika Express mix pop hooks with punk attack, a combination that has defined the German band since guitarist Robert Drakogiannakis gathered a trio in 2002. Alongside drummer Alex Jezdinsky and bassist Jens Bachmann, the original line-up shared vocal duties, giving the group a loud, multi-voiced energy on the independent circuit.
Signed to Wuppertal Music Label Group, the trio released a self-titled debut that caught attention on the independent scene without breaking through widely, followed in 2003 by the EP Ich bin kein Amerikaner and in 2004 by the album Alltag für Alle and the EP Phantome. A live album, Pornographie, arrived in 2005, the year the members went their separate ways after a single appearance on Newcomer TV. Drakogiannakis revived the name in 2008 as a solo project, enlisting Dani Hilterhaus on bass, and later pre-sold shares in the planned album Goldener Trash to fans, a scheme that drew coverage on ZDF's Heute show. The 2009 EP Was wollt ihr alle? followed, and at year's end the free online album Hosen runter! Die Angelika Demos 2002–2005 was released.
