About Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande
Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande is a Hindustani classical vocalist from India whose singing belongs to the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana, one of the named stylistic schools of the form. As the daughter of Manik Bhide, she has worked within that tradition since 1960, giving her a career that spans well over half a century. Her recordings move between raga-based albums and devotional series, a range visible from her very first release onward in the catalogue.
Her discography opens with Raga Bageshri / Kedar in 2003, a pairing of two ragas. In 2005 three Bhaktimala releases appeared: Ganesh Volume 2, Shakti Volume 2 and Krishna Volume 1, each devoted to a deity. Sandhya followed in 2007, and Classical Vocal, a self-titled collection of recordings, arrived in 2010. Her most recent listed release is Inde du Nord: Le chant khyal ou l'art de l'imagination, issued in 2020, a French-language title.
