About The Bug Club
The Bug Club began as a blues project in Caldicot, Monmouthshire, and have since traded that roots sound for contemporary indie rock. Sam Willmett and Tilly Harris met at school aged 14 and started playing together long before the group formally formed in 2016, when Sam's brother Ross joined during their university years. Their name comes from Ross's childhood friends, who collected bugs, a detail the band found funny enough to adopt. Now signed to Sub Pop, the Welsh band's lineup has shifted over the years, but Sam Willmett and Tilly Harris remain at its centre.
Their debut single, "We Don't Need Room For Loving", came out in April 2021, with the EP Launching Moondream One on Sheffield's Bingo Records. The 2022 album Green Dream In F# drew critical acclaim, and their international debut came in the Netherlands, with later returns to Utrecht and Amsterdam. Rare Birds: Hour Of Song followed in October 2023, more experimental, with spoken word interludes. Drummer Dan Matthew left in March 2024, and the third album was recorded in Cardiff with Tom Rees.
