About Burhan G
Burhan G's Danish R&B and pop began in a choir room, where he sang as a solo soprano with the Københavns Drengekor. Born Burhan Genç Koç in 1983, he grew up in Brøndby Strand, south-west of central Copenhagen, to parents of Kurdish origin from Haymana in Turkey. His earliest visible work was as a backing singer for the hip hop group Outlandish, whose hit "Walou" he helped carry on the chorus, and he has since built a career across songwriting and production.
His solo debut, Playground, arrived on BMG in 2004 and brought a win for Best Danish Newcomer at the Danish Music Awards, plus Best Danish Album at the Danish DeeJay Awards. He moved to Copenhagen Records for Breakout in 2007, whose single "Who Is He" became a hit. Switching to Danish changed things: "Kun dig" opened the way for the self-titled album Burhan G, and "Mest ondt" featuring Medina gave him his first Danish No. 1 in 2010. "Tættere på himlen" with Nik & Jay topped the chart for three weeks that October, and both singles went platinum, as did the albums Burhan G and Din for evigt.
