About The Cactus Blossoms
Brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkum front this Minneapolis band, whose music looks back to the early country and rock and roll of the 1950s and 60s. Drawing on traditional American folk and hillbilly music, their sound recalls 60s Nashville and Los Angeles, with echoes of Roy Orbison, The Byrds, Duane Eddy and the Everly Brothers. Filed under alternative country and indie folk, they have built a following on that vintage blend.
The Cactus Blossoms began playing Minneapolis shows in 2010 and released a self-titled debut in 2011, then took a residency at St Paul's Turf Club. Red House Records signed them in 2015, and You're Dreaming reached number 23 on the Americana Billboard chart after its January 2016 release. In 2017 they performed "Mississippi" on the revival of David Lynch's Twin Peaks, and Dan Auerbach later invited them to his Nashville studio, where two songs ended up on Easy Way. One Day came out in February 2022, followed by Every Time I Think About You in 2024.
