About Caity Gyorgy

Calgary-born jazz singer Caity Gyorgy carries a Hungarian thread in her family history, since her paternal grandfather's family arrived in Canada from Hungary in the 1930s. Her training took her from the music programme at Humber College to a Masters of Music in jazz performance at McGill University, where she studied under Christine Jensen. That training sits behind a catalogue that has repeatedly drawn Juno Award attention.

Her Juno wins are the clearest marker of her recorded work. She took Vocal Jazz Album of the Year in 2022 for the EP Now Pronouncing: Caity Gyorgy, repeated the win in 2023 for the LP Featuring, and in 2025 won again, this time for the LP Hello! How are you? Her releases from 2021, the album No Bounds and the EP Now Pronouncing, came out in the years leading up to those honours. On stage she has played the Toronto Jazz Festival and the Calgary Jazz Festival, and has performed alongside Allison Au, Jocelyn Gould and Pat LaBarbera.
