About Casey Donovan

A televised talent contest turned into a long and varied career for Casey Donovan, an Indigenous Australian singer and actress with Gumbaynggirr and Dungari heritage. Born in Bankstown, New South Wales, she grew up in a musical family, though her own talent was only noticed once she reached Condell Park High. Her voice has since taken her from the Idol stage into musical theatre and television.

Donovan won the second series of Australian Idol at 16, the show's youngest winner, and the following February released "What's Going On", which peaked at number 18 on the ARIA Charts. Her stage work includes Cynthia Macrae in The Sapphires and Mama Cass in Flowerchildren \u2013 The Mamas & the Papas Story. In 2017 she won the third series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, becoming the first ever Queen of the Jungle. She finished second in Eurovision - Australia Decides with "Proud" in February 2020, and in 2022 played Judy Bernly in 9 to 5. Her latest role is Aunt Deborah in Kimberly Akimbo in 2025, and a 2026 Australian tour will cover her career.
