Chase & Status

Chase & Status took their cue from the Prodigy, Orbital and the original jungle scene, and have built a career that carries drum and bass into wider British pop. Saul Milton, who records as Chase, and Will Kennard, known as Status, first met through a mutual friend in London, then reconnected as students in Manchester, where they formed the duo in 2003. Their collaborators include Plan B, CeeLo Green, Rihanna and Stormzy, and they run their own independent label, MTA Records.

Their early run of dance chart hits included 'Hurt You' in 2007 and 'Pieces', featuring Plan B, which reached number one on the UK Dance Singles Chart in 2008. The following year, 'End Credits' gave them their first UK top forty entry, peaking at number nine. Their second album, No More Idols, debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart. More recently, 2 Ruff, Vol. 1 gave them four UK top 40 singles at once, and in 2023–24 they won their first Brit Award, for Producer of the Year. In 2024, 'Backbone', made with Stormzy, gave them a UK number one.
