About The Coronas

Few Irish rock bands have kept such a steady output going on their own terms, and The Coronas have done it from a base shared between Dublin and London. Danny O'Reilly, Graham Knox and Conor Egan first played together at Terenure College, where they started a group called Kiros with a friend. After a split the project returned as Corona, and the name later became The Coronas to avoid confusion with an Italian dance act. Their own label, 3ú Records, has carried seven studio albums to date.

The band's breakthrough came with Heroes or Ghosts in 2007, with its title track and San Diego Song drawing wide acclaim. Before signing to 3ú in November 2006, they had sold out Whelan's, a Dublin venue, in September that year. It opened at number 27 in the Irish Albums Chart and spent 74 weeks on the chart. Their second album, Tony Was an Ex-Con, reached number one on the Irish iTunes chart in 2009 and won Best Album at the 2010 Meteor Awards. Closer to You followed in 2011, opening at number one on the Irish Indie Chart, and The Long Way, released in November 2014, marked their Island Records debut.
