About Crazy P
Few English electronic acts have carried a name as provocative as Crazy P's, and the story behind it is part of the appeal. Formed around 1995 by Chris Todd and Jim Baron, who met as students at the University of Nottingham, the group folds soul, disco and house music into a single warm, danceable sound. Their records lean on the pulse of the dancefloor while keeping an ear for melody.
Their run of releases began with 'Digging Deeper' in 1996, and after signing to the Manchester label Paper Recordings they have since put out six albums and a string of singles. A strong following in Australia, where they have toured several times, grew steadily. Their track 'There's a Better Place' samples 'Pure Imagination' from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and 'Stop Space Return' was named iTunes UK's single of the week on 28 October 2008. By 2019 they had recorded Age of the Ego, whose lyrics, written by Danielle Moore, took aim at the worship of politicians and celebrities. Moore, who fronted the group, died in August 2024 at the age of 52.
