Crypta

Crypta is an all-female death metal band from São Paulo, formed in 2019 and led by Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto, who had previously played together in the thrash band Nervosa. After leaving that group in 2020 following a strained working relationship, they announced a death metal project, the style they most identify with. Guitarists Tainá Bergamaschi and Sonia Anubis completed the first line-up, and the band's identity rests firmly on the death metal they set out to play.

Their debut album, Echoes of the Soul, arrived on 11 June 2021, preceded by singles From the Ashes, Starvation and Dark Night of the Soul. It was mixed by Arthur Rizk and mastered by Jens Bogren, and its cover was designed by Wes Benscoter. The band played its first concert that November at the Porão do Rock festival in Brasília. Second album Shades of Sorrow followed in August 2023, announced in May with the single Lord of Ruins. Jéssica di Falchi left in March 2025, and in April 2026 guitarist Victoria Villarreal joined, while the band writes material for a new studio album.
