About Dagny
Dagny Norvoll Sandvik, known simply as Dagny, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter whose pop is built from a wide palette. Indie, dance, synth-pop, electropop and disco all surface in her work. Raised in Tromsø as the youngest daughter of a vocalist and a jazz musician, she was sparked by a school songwriting assignment and first found her love of music through the Spice Girls, and the pull of performance has stayed with her ever since.
Her breakthrough came with 'Backbeat', recorded in the autumn of 2015 in a studio near London Bridge, which caught the ear of Zane Lowe at Apple Music 1 and passed 20 million Spotify plays by mid-2016. Recording deals with Propeller Recordings and Republic Records followed, and the EP Ultraviolet arrived later that year. Strangers / Lovers came in 2020, the same year 'Somebody' won Song of the Year at the P3 Gull, and Elle followed in 2024. Her 2017 track 'Love You Like That' became the basis for Katy Perry's 'Never Really Over' in 2019.
