About Dizzy Mizz Lizzy
Their name comes from The Beatles' cover of Larry Williams's "Dizzy, Miss Lizzy", and the alternative rock trio from Valby, a district of Copenhagen, formed in October 1988 draws on The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana. Tim Christensen sings, plays guitar and writes the songs, while Martin Nielsen plays bass and Søren Friis drums. They preferred the label power rock to grunge, which they found an overused buzzword by 1994.
Their path ran through Danish competitions first. They won Rock Træf in 1990 and came fourth at DM i Rock in 1991. In 1993 they took the championship, and the songs "Waterline" and "Silverflame" became hits on DR P3 and DR P4. Their albums Dizzy Mizz Lizzy (1994) and Rotator (1996) made them highly successful in Denmark and Japan until the group disbanded in 1998. A 2010 reunion tour led to a more permanent comeback, announced in 2014, and Forward in Reverse (2016) and Alter Echo (2020) helped them regain their standing as Denmark's most popular rock band. To date they have four studio albums and three live ones.
