About DLD
Long before the name was shortened, DLD was Dildo, a four-piece from Ciudad Satélite in the State of Mexico. Its alternative rock carries pop punk and American rock influences, especially in the early work, and the cult bands of Ciudad Satélite left their mark too. Francisco Familiar, Erik Neville Linares, Edgar "Pijey" Hansen Otero, Gil Santiago Rangel and Sergio Vela now make up the band, with Familiar on vocals and Vela on keyboards. Across eight studio albums and three live records, the group has held onto that alternative core.
Second place in the 2003 Rastreo de Bandas contest, run by Órbita 105.7 FM in Mexico City, brought the self-titled debut attention from the press and industry. A 2005 US tour included a headline show at The Roxy in Los Angeles. Primario, released through Sony Music after the band signed in 2012, gained them greater exposure: its single "Todo Cuenta" was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Rock Song in 2013, and the album was certified Gold in Mexico for passing 30,000 units. In August 2015, a sold-out show at the Palacio de los Deportes filled its 18,000 capacity. Transcender, their seventh album, came out in 2020.
