About Elliot Minor

Before they were a rock band, several members of Elliot Minor were choristers, holding music scholarships to sing at York Minster, the cathedral in their home city. The group began as an acoustic duo, Alex Davies and Ed Minton, who met at Uppingham School aged thirteen. Once drummer Dan Hetherton, bassist Ed Hetherton and keyboardist Ali Paul had joined, the five-piece took the name Elliot Minor, with Davies and Minton on vocals and guitar.

Their first big moment came in 2006, when a MySpace competition won them a support slot on one date of McFly's Motion in the Ocean tour, before more than 11,000 people in Newcastle. Their debut single, "Parallel Worlds", reached No. 31 on the UK Singles Chart, and follow-ups "Jessica", "The White One Is Evil" and "Still Figuring Out" all reached the top 30. Their debut album arrived in April 2008 and opened at No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart. Their second album, Solaris, followed in October 2009 and reached No. 9 on the UK Indie Chart before the band went on hiatus in 2010. In November 2024 they announced a return from hiatus, with new music and select UK city shows in 2025.
