About Eric Hutchinson

A gossip blogger's endorsement was the spark for Eric Hutchinson's breakthrough, and the songs have done the rest. Born in 1980 and raised in Takoma Park, Maryland, the singer-songwriter writes melodic, radio-friendly pop with a crooner's warmth and a knack for sticky hooks. He is equally recognisable for the sharp, often colourful suits he wears on stage and on his album covers, and he has been named an AOL "About to Pop" artist and a VH1 "You Oughta Know" artist.

Sounds Like This, which he recorded and released independently in 2007, climbed to number five on the iTunes Store and became the highest-charting album by an unsigned artist in that store's history, before Warner Bros. Records picked it up for a May 2008 release. Its single "Rock & Roll" earned his first US gold record and reached number one in Australia in 2009. Later albums include Moving Up, Living Down (2012), Pure Fiction (2014), whose opener "Tell the World" soundtracked the sitcom Growing Up Fisher, and Modern Happiness (2018), credited to Eric Hutchinson and the Believers. He has shared stages with Kelly Clarkson, Jason Mraz and Pentatonix.
