Frida Gold

Four musicians from Hattingen, with a keyboardist joining them on stage, make up Frida Gold, a German act whose reach extends beyond home soil into Austria and Switzerland. Alina Süggeler and guitarist Julian Cassel first crossed paths at school, a partnership that carried them through earlier projects before the group took its present shape. The line-up is completed by Andreas Weizel on bass and Thomas Holtgreve on drums, with Andre Pittelkau playing keyboards in concert.

The band's first single, Zeig mir wie du tanzt, arrived in 2010 after they signed to Warner Music Group, and a mobile phone advertisement that used the track helped lift it into the singles chart. Its successors proved stronger: Wovon sollen wir träumen and Unsere Liebe ist aus Gold, the latter certified gold. The debut album Juwel came out on 15 April 2011, and the group supported Kylie Minogue on several of her German dates that year, a slot that helped sell the record.
