About Gaelic Storm

What began as a run of nights at O'Brien's Irish Pub in Santa Monica became Gaelic Storm, an American Celtic band formed there in 1996 and now with more than a dozen albums behind it. Their set draws on traditional Irish and Scottish tunes alongside originals that move between Celtic folk and Celtic rock, and the energy of their renditions is what the band is best known for.

The Titanic film in 1997 gave them a larger stage: they played the steerage band, performing "Blarney Pilgrim" and "Drowsy Maggie", and two of the tunes appeared on the second soundtrack album as "An Irish Party in Third Class". Touring followed across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Japan. Their fifth album, How Are We Getting Home?, opened at number three on the Billboard World Music chart in 2004, and What's the Rumpus?, issued in 2008 on their own Lost Again Records, reached number one on the same chart. In February 2025 Steve Twigger announced his retirement, leaving Patrick Murphy as the only original member still in the line-up.
