About Genitorturers

Few bands have wrapped industrial metal around a theatrical erotic act quite like the Genitorturers, a Tampa, Florida outfit whose grinding guitars and electronic textures carry the imprint of 1990s hardcore punk. Gen Zimmerman, the lead singer, founded the group while studying at Rollins College in Orlando, and its identity rests as much on a stage show built around BDSM imagery as on the music. The band calls itself "The World's Sexiest Rock Band". Their music fuses hardcore punk, metal and industrial electronics.

The band began as The Festering Genitorturers and played its first show at the Ocean Club in Cocoa Beach in late 1986 before shortening its name. In 1993 IRS Records boss Miles Copeland III sent an assistant to see them, and a contract followed. Morbid Angel bassist David Vincent, Gen's husband, joined on bass after that record. Later milestones include the 1998 album Sin City, "Lecher Bitch" in the 2004 video game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, Blackheart Revolution in 2009, and a Halloween 2020 livestream debut of "Scars & Stripes Forever", their first new song in 11 years.
