About George Birge
Long before his own name reached country radio, George Birge was a songwriter in Austin, Texas, and that apprenticeship still shapes his work. He began singing at 14 and was writing with his friend Cody Cooper while still a teenager. Songs he wrote have been recorded by Matt Stell, Chris Lane and Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts, and his own records now carry that craft to listeners directly.
The duo Waterloo Revival, formed with Cooper after they reunited in 2013, recorded for Big Machine Records until 2020. When the partnership ended, Birge kept writing alone, and Clay Walker recorded two of his songs, "Need a Bar Sometimes" and "Catchin' Up with an Old Memory", releasing both as singles. Walker also urged him to post his music on TikTok, where "Beer Beer, Truck Truck" gained attention late in 2021 and led to a deal with Records Nashville. "Mind on You" debuted at number 58 on Country Airplay in August 2022 and peaked at number two in January 2024. Later that year "Cowboy Songs" became his first number one, and "It Won't Be Long" reached number three in early 2025.
