About Giant Rooks

Hailing from Hamm, this German indie rock act grew out of a friendship between two cousins. Frederik Rabe and Finn Schwieters founded the project in 2014, later joined by schoolmates and a friend. Their influences include Bob Dylan, Bon Iver, James Blake, Celeste and Joy Crookes. They are best known for the EP Wild Stare, the album How Have You Been? and a cover of Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner".

Their debut EP, The Times Are Bursting The Lines, came out in December 2015, and New Estate, in January 2017, earned critical acclaim. A record deal with Irrsinn Tonträger followed. In April 2019 Wild Stare's title track became a top 20 radio hit in Italy. That year the band won the 1Live Krone Award and the Preis für Popkultur. Rookery followed in August 2020, and a North American tour with Milky Chance in 2021. Their version of "Tom's Diner" with AnnenMayKantereit reached number 63 in the UK in 2022, their first UK hit. In 2023 they opened for Louis Tomlinson on the North American leg of his tour. How Have You Been?, released in February 2024, hit number one in Germany.
