About Gnod

Few bands have made a virtue of constant change quite like Gnod, an English rock act rooted in Salford whose membership has shifted for much of its life. Since 2012 the core has been Paddy Shine, Chris Haslam, Marlene Ribeiro, Alex Macarte and Andy Blundell, joined on a fluid basis by drummers Jesse Webb and John Perry and vocalist Neil Francis. Formed in 2006, the group has been described by one critic as a Manchester collective, a label that captures its open-door approach to playing together.

Ingnodwetrust, their 2011 release, earned that Manchester description from one reviewer, and their records have appeared on Rocket Recordings. Alongside that partnership sits Tesla Tapes, the band's own label, which Paddy Shine says takes its name from Nikola Tesla and offers an outlet for projects by Gnod members past and present. At Islington Mill Art Academy, the group curated Tangent, Callum Higgins's installation that led visitors in small groups through a light-reactive room, each holding only a torch. New Musical Express, reviewing a Gnod performance at the venue's recurring Gesamtkunstwerk night, judged the band exceptionally good and urged readers to see them live.
