About Goat
Few acts arrive wrapped in as much myth as Goat, a Swedish alternative and experimental fusion group whose seven members perform masked and costumed, their identities kept hidden. Their publicity places the group's roots in Korpilombolo, Norrbotten County, a village supposedly shaped by a visiting witch doctor's voodoo and a curse laid after Christian crusaders destroyed it, a tale that may well be fiction. Behind the theatrics sits a genre-blending sound, and a live line-up of three core members from the village, joined on stage by four performers from Gothenburg, where the band is now based.
Their recorded story starts with the single Goatman in 2012, issued on limited edition vinyl by Rocket Recordings, the UK label founded in 1998. That year's debut album, World Music, took its title from its mix of styles, and Australia's Happy Mag placed it fifth on its list of the 25 greatest psychedelic rock albums of the 2010s. Commune, Requiem, Oh Death, Medicine and Goat followed, and in 2023 the band scored The Gallows Pole, the BBC and A24 drama directed by Shane Meadows. They returned to Glastonbury in 2025, playing the West Holts stage.
