About The Goddamn Gallows
Few bands sound as unruly as Detroit's The Goddamn Gallows, who stitch together country, folk, bluegrass, psychobilly, rock 'n' roll, metal and punk into a sound they call gutterbilly. Add banjo, accordion and washboard to the double bass and you hear a group that refuses to sit still in one genre. Some writers have reached for gypsy-punk or sideshow rock 'n' roll with a hillbilly attitude to describe them.
Formed in Detroit in 2004, the band began with Mikey Classic on guitar and vocals, Fishgutzzz on double bass and Amanda Kills on drums, a role Baby Genius soon took over. Their debut, Gutterbillyblues, appeared in 2007 on the band's own GBC Records. Ghost of th' Rails followed in 2009 on Farmageddon Records, then 7 Devils in 2011, and The Maker in 2014 on Farmageddon and the German label Crazy Love Records. The most recent album listed is The Trial, released in 2018 by Sailor's Grave Records.
