About Graveyard
From Gothenburg, Graveyard turn hard rock's bluesy roots into something lean and unfussy. Its core came from the ashes of two earlier Swedish outfits, Norrsken and then Albatross, where Joakim Nilsson and Rikard Edlund had grown tired of a sound that had drifted away from what they wanted to play. Their stated aim was a more straightforward rock sound, with Nilsson stepping forward as a singer rather than hiding behind a guitar.
The band began with a two-track demo and a handful of shows before a Myspace upload caught the attention of Tony Presedo, founder of Tee Pee Records. Their self-titled debut appeared in early 2008, recorded by Don Ahlsterberg, and drew generally good reviews. That same year they played South by Southwest and were featured in Rolling Stone's Fricke's Picks. Touring followed with Witch, Witchcraft, Clutch and CKY, then Soundgarden in 2013. Edlund left in 2014, and after a 2016 split and a 2017 reunion, Peace arrived in May 2018.
