About The Halo Effect
Five veterans of In Flames chose to look backwards when they formed The Halo Effect in 2019. Jesper Strömblad, Mikael Stanne, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers and Daniel Svensson set out to return to the 1990s Gothenburg sound that pioneered melodic death metal. Their name comes from "Halo Effect", a track on Rush's Clockwork Angels, according to an interview with the band. Signed to Nuclear Blast, the Swedish group arrived with a clear sense of lineage.
Their debut single, "Shadowminds", appeared on 9 November 2021, paving the way for the album Days of the Lost, released on 12 August 2022. That autumn the band toured Europe and the UK in September and October alongside Amon Amarth and Machine Head. The second album, March of the Unheard, was recorded in 2024 and preceded by the single "Detonate" on 25 September 2024; it was released on 10 January 2025. Later in 2025 they issued the covers EP We Are Shadows, on 21 November.
