About Holly Throsby
Holly Throsby is an Australian singer-songwriter and novelist whose two careers have run side by side for two decades. Her solo records are built on uncluttered acoustic songs with a lyrical focus on loneliness and distance, delivered in a voice that critics have described as distinctive and fragile. Trained on classical guitar and writing songs from the age of eleven, she has also become known as a sharp prose writer, and her fiction draws on the same attention to small, quiet moments.
Her debut album, On Night, appeared in 2004, recorded with Tony Dupé at his cottage near Kiama and released on the Sydney indie label Spunk Records. Her second, Under the Town, followed in 2006, earning an ARIA Award nomination for Best Female Artist and praise from the UK press. A Loud Call brought a further nomination in 2008, and her children's album See! was nominated for Best Children's Album in 2011. As part of Seeker Lover Keeper, alongside Sally Seltmann and Sarah Blasko, she reached No. 3 with their 2011 self-titled album. Goodwood, her debut novel, was published by Allen & Unwin in 2016 and went on to win several shortlistings, including for a Ned Kelly Award.
