House of Protection

Few duos in rock circles arrive with a résumé as tangled as House of Protection's, yet the Los Angeles pair of Stephen Harrison and Aric Improta have built something distinct from their past bands. Harrison had been the guitarist in The Chariot and Improta drums in Night Verses, and the two first met in 2017 as members of Fever 333. Their electronic rock draws on a lineage that runs from The Smashing Pumpkins and Massive Attack to The Prodigy, Cocteau Twins and Sleigh Bells. Neither had sung lead before, but they split the vocal duties between them, a decision that gives the music its shared, restless tension.

Their debut single, "It's Supposed to Hurt", arrived in April 2024 and was produced by Jordan Fish, formerly of Bring Me the Horizon, and later featured on the soundtrack to WWE 2K25. The debut EP Galore followed on Red Bull Records in September 2024, and the duo played their first live shows that October at The Echo in Los Angeles and Underworld in London. In February 2025 they appeared on Architects' single "Brain Dead", and their second EP, Outrun You All, is scheduled for 23 May 2025.
