About Humanity's Last Breath

Humanity's Last Breath is a Swedish band whose deathcore core has widened into djent, doom metal and blackened death metal, a mix that makes it hard to pigeonhole. Formed in 2009 by guitarists Buster Odeholm and Kristoffer Nillsson, the group is often mentioned alongside Meshuggah and Vildhjarta, and its use of polyrhythms invites that comparison. The band calls its own approach "Thall", a term that has come to describe a broader modern sound, shaped largely by Odeholm's production and songwriting.

The debut EP, Reanimated by Hate, appeared in 2010, and a self-titled debut album followed three years later. Abyssal, the second studio album, came out in 2019, Välde in 2021, and the fourth, Ashen, in 2023. Line-up changes have been frequent: Marcus Hultqvist and Kristoffer Nillsson left in 2014, Filip Danielsson has sung since 2016, Klas Blomgren has played drums since 2020, and Tuomas Kurikka became a full member in 2023 after a period as a live player. Zach Dean now stands in for Blomgren on the road.
