About Israel Nash
Born Israel Nash Gripka, the Missouri-raised singer, songwriter and guitarist moved to New York City in 2006 and cut his teeth in Lower East Side clubs such as The Living Room and Rockwood Music Hall. Mojo, reviewing Silver Season, praised its "cosmic poetry, crunching guitars and swooning pedal steel."
His 2009 debut, New York Town, was self-released before Dutch label Continental Records Services took it for Europe and the UK. Its follow-up, Barn Doors and Concrete Floors, appeared in March 2011, recorded on a Catskill Mountains farm with Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley co-producing and drumming throughout; the Euro Americana Charts named it the top album of 2011. Rain Plans, tracked on analogue tape after he relocated to Dripping Springs, Texas, came out on London's Loose Music in 2013. Silver Season followed in October 2015, and in November 2016 he issued the three-song Neighbors EP with The Bright Light Social Hour. In 2024 he cancelled the remaining shows of a tour for Ozarker and withdrew into isolation, returning to social media in November 2025.
