About Ivan Neville

Ivan Neville's career runs through the heart of New Orleans music. The son of Aaron Neville and nephew to the other members of The Neville Brothers, he works as a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, moving between his own solo records, sideman work and Dumpstaphunk, the band he formed in 2003. His playing carries the funk and rhythm and blues of his home city into every setting.

His debut solo album, If My Ancestors Could See Me Now, arrived in 1988 and produced "Not Just Another Girl", which reached 26 on the Billboard charts. The duet "Falling Out of Love" with Bonnie Raitt reached 91 and featured in the 1989 comedy Skin Deep, while "Why Can't I Fall in Love" appeared on the 1990 soundtrack to Pump Up the Volume. He spent 1985 to 1987 in Raitt's band and contributed keyboards to the Rolling Stones' Dirty Work and Voodoo Lounge. After Hurricane Katrina he joined The New Orleans Social Club on Sing Me Back Home, where his version of John Fogerty's "Fortunate Son" drew critical praise. His most recent solo release is Touch My Soul, from 2023.
