About James Walsh

Walsh's route into music runs through a long list of heroes, from Oasis and Jeff Buckley to Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Nick Drake. Born in Wigan and raised in Chorley, the English singer, songwriter and guitarist started on piano at 12 and was writing his own songs by 14. He is best known as the frontman of Starsailor, a band named after Tim Buckley's 1970 album, and he has sold more than three million albums worldwide, counting his work with that group.

His solo career began with the Live at the Top of the World EP, recorded in Tromsø with a Norwegian chamber orchestra and released in November 2010. The following year he supported Simple Minds on their Greatest Hits Forest Tour, and in 2012 his debut album, Lullaby, arrived on 17 September. He later toured as support act for Mike and the Mechanics on their The Hits tour in April 2015, and his fourth and fifth albums both came out in 2021.
