About JER

Before he became a chart regular, Jeremy Lau Ying-ting was a busker who played bass in bands. Born in Hong Kong on 20 November 1992, he studied at Ng Wah Catholic Secondary School and the Hong Kong Baptist University College of International Education, then sang in the pop group Bromance and formed the heavy metal band Joy of Stupidity, which performed original Cantonese songs. Under the name Jer, he is best known as a member of the boy band Mirror, yet his solo singles range from soft rock ballads to progressive rock, and he also acts on screen.

He left his reporting job in 2018 to audition for ViuTV's Good Night Show - King Maker, and producer Ahfa Wong invited him to join Mirror, which debuted on 3 November 2018 with "In a Second". His solo run began in 2020 with the ballad "Tale of Water Torture", followed by "Tale of Final Lucidity", a number one on the Ultimate 903 Chart. "A Madman's Diary", which Lau describes as a nod to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", also topped that chart. In July 2023 he staged a solo concert, Across the Universe, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
