John Carroll Kirby

Los Angeles keyboardist John Carroll Kirby has spent a long career on the other side of the glass, working as a session musician, composer and producer before releasing records under his own name. Jazz is the lens through which his work is framed, and his keys have carried him into studios alongside artists including Solange, Frank Ocean, Miley Cyrus and Sébastien Tellier.

His own catalogue opens with Travel in 2017, followed by Meditations in Music in 2018 and Tuscany in 2019. The pace picked up in 2020, when Conflict and My Garden both appeared, and continued with Septet in 2021 and Dance Ancestral in 2022. Blowout, released in 2023, is the most recent of eight albums listed under his name between 2017 and 2023. Alongside those albums he has continued in the studio, with further credits for Norah Jones, Bat For Lashes and Harry Styles.
