About Kasalla
Kasalla take their name from a Rhenish word meaning trouble or row, and this Cologne band plays Kölschrock, rock sung in the local dialect, that also turns up on stage during carnival. Formed in mid-2011 by guitarist and songwriter Flo Peil and singer Bastian Campmann, son of the late Räuber guitarist Norbert Campmann, the group grew out of Peil's years writing for Cologne acts such as the Bläck Fööss, Paveier and the Sankt Stephan youth choir.
Their first concert took place at the MTC club in Cologne in September 2011, and the debut CD Et jitt Kasalla followed in January 2012. Its track Pirate was among the most played songs of the 2011/12 carnival season and went on to win the Loss mer singe tour, the Top Jeck contest on Radio Köln and the Roten Funken's vote for best Kölsch song. The second album, Immer en Bewäjung, followed in November 2012, and the 2017 album Mer sin eins reached fifth place in the German charts. The Tanzbrunnen open-air in August 2014 drew more than 12,000 people. In June 2022 a ten-year anniversary show at Cologne's Rheinenergiestadion drew 41,000 visitors, their largest crowd to date.
