About Kenny Thomas
Kenny Thomas's voice was a fixture of the UK charts for much of the 1990s, with eight top 40 singles and two top ten albums to his name. Born in Islington in September 1968, he grew up on Hillside Estate in Stamford Hill and attended Cardinal Pole school in Hackney, where he also boxed as an amateur. Before turning to singing professionally he worked for British Telecom. He now lives in Norfolk.
His breakthrough came in 1991 with "Outstanding", a cover of the Gap Band song that reached number 12. That year he had three singles in the chart, the biggest being "Thinking About Your Love", which peaked at number four and spent 13 weeks there. His debut album, Voices, reached number three and sold over 300,000 copies. Second album Wait for Me followed in 1993 and reached number 10, with "Trippin' on Your Love" hitting number 17. A 2005 appearance on ITV's Hit Me Baby One More Time and a 2016 spell as lead singer of Living in a Box, replacing Richard Darbyshire, marked later chapters. His latest album, Unstoppable, came out in 2025.
