About Lara Fabian
One of Belgium's best-selling artists of all time, Lara Fabian has sold more than twelve million records worldwide. Born Lara Sophie Katy Crokaert in Etterbeek in 1970, she was raised between Sicily and Flemish Brabant and spent a decade at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Her career has since moved across Europe and North America, and her material runs from upbeat dance-pop to slower ballads, sung in both French and English.
Her 1988 Eurovision entry for Luxembourg, Croire, placed fourth, and after relocating to Montreal in 1990 with her collaborator Rick Allison, she released the French-language debut album Lara Fabian in 1991. It was the 1994 album Carpe diem, though, that broke her through in Quebec, going gold within three weeks and spawning hits including Tu t'en vas and Leïla. Her first English-language album, recorded in 1999, produced I Will Love Again, which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, and the follow-up ballad Love By Grace became the theme of a Brazilian soap opera in 2001.
