About Look Mum No Computer

Few musicians have turned a bicycle into a synthesiser, but Sam James Bartle has made a habit of it. Working under the names Sam Battle and Look Mum No Computer, the Englishman builds eccentric electronic instruments from old hardware, among them a Furby organ, a synthesiser grafted onto a Raleigh Chopper and a Game Boy triple oscillator. Those inventions feed a YouTube channel, a Ramsgate museum of repurposed analogue gear called This Museum Is (Not) Obsolete, and a catalogue of original music.

He came to music through the indie-rock band Zibra, where he sang lead; the group played the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury in 2015 and supported Years & Years on tour before disbanding in 2016. His solo single "Groundhog Day" followed in 2019, and he later joined Cuckoo and Hainbach in Uncompressed. He has co-produced "Satellite Moments (Light Up the Sky)" for A Street Cat Named Bob and "Glitter and Gold", with Barns Courtney, for Netflix's Safe. In 2025 his video game Look Mum No Computer reached Steam, and in February 2026 he was chosen to represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision, finishing last with "Eins, Zwei, Drei" on a single point.
