About Lucero
Born Lucero Hogaza León in 1969, the Mexican performer has built a career that refuses to stay in one lane. Dubbed the Americas' Girlfriend, she has spent more than four decades as a singer, actress and television personality, and her influence stretches across Latin music and Latin American television. Her sound has moved from teen pop in the 1980s through Latin pop to ranchera, a range that lets her tie youthful melody to older Mexican traditions.
She began at ten on Televisa's children's programmes, Alegrías de Mediodía and Chiquilladas, and went on to star in the telenovela Chispita. Her debut album, Él, came out on Musart Records in 1982, and by the late 1980s she had Cuéntame, whose title single reached number one in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil. The 1990s brought telenovelas including Los Parientes Pobres and Lazos de Amor, alongside the ranchera albums Lucero de México and Cariño de Mis Cariños. She voiced Jane in the Spanish-language Tarzan and sang the Spanish version of "Reflection" for Mulan. Between 1997 and 2004 she hosted Teletón México, and she later presented the Latin Grammy Awards from 2006 to 2013.
