About Malte Ebert

Few Danish musicians have built a career on a disguise quite like the one Malte Fynboe Manniche Ebert wore as Gulddreng, a stage name that translates as "gold boy". Sunglasses were his constant companion, and for a time his real identity stayed unknown until the father of a host family he had stayed with on an exchange trip named him on Facebook. Ebert, born in 1994, later explained that he had created the persona as a reaction to bad pop music.

His first seven singles, including "Model", "Se mig nu" and "Ked af det", each reached number one in Denmark, and four of them, "Se mig nu", "Drikker for lidt", "Guld jul" and "Ked af det", debuted at the summit. In September 2016 he put out an official Gulddreng app on the App Store, built by Thorwest Development. A year later he dropped the nickname for his own name, and in June 2018 he released "Rather Be", his first single as Malte Ebert. The following May he played his first concert at Vega, and in 2019 he travelled to Los Angeles to write songs with a more international sound.
