About Mary In the Junkyard
Mary in the Junkyard, the London trio of Clari Freeman-Taylor on vocals and guitar, Saya Barbaglia on viola and bass, and drummer David Addison, have been compared to Adrianne Lenker and Wolf Alice. Their story starts in classical music: Freeman-Taylor and Barbaglia met at a summer camp at fourteen, when a counsellor paired them to perform a piece together, and Addison had known Freeman-Taylor from their time in the band Second Thoughts. The group are signed to All My Friends Records.
Their first gig came in 2022 at the Cavendish Arms in Stockwell, when Freeman-Taylor secured a booking and recruited the others, and The Windmill in Brixton soon became a regular stop. The debut single, "Tuesday", appeared in October 2023 and has since become a closing staple of their live set. The EP This Old House followed in May 2024, produced by Richard Russell of XL Recordings. That year, after mentioning on stage in New York that they needed somewhere to stay, they ended up with Todd Eckert and Marina Abramović, and in 2025 they supported Wet Leg on the Moisturizer tour. The debut album Role Model Hermit arrived in July 2026, with singles including "Crash Landing", "Candelabra" and "Mouse".
