Mat & Savanna Shaw

Few lockdown covers have travelled as far as the one made by Mat and Savanna Shaw, a father and daughter from Utah whose version of "The Prayer" began as a favour. Savanna, a shy member of a children's choir whose rehearsals were cancelled when the pandemic arrived, asked her dad to sing the Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli duet with her. He was doing yard work in a baseball cap and by his own account saw no reason to change.

The video went up on Instagram in February 2020, then Facebook so that relatives without an account could watch, and the YouTube channel followed on 6 March. Three months later it had passed six million views. Picture This, their 13-song album, arrived on 23 October 2020 and sold 12,000 copies, topping Billboard's Emerging Artists chart. Merry Little Christmas followed that November, then Stand By Me in 2021 and two albums in 2022, Happy Like That and Christmas Together.
