About Medium Build

Nicholas Carpenter, who records as Medium Build, grew up in Georgia singing in church before moving from Atlanta to Nashville at 21 to study songwriting. He has since lived in Alaska, and his work moves between indie rock and country, the two poles of his catalogue. Before Medium Build took shape, he wrote songs for the indie rock band Little Moses while studying at Middle Tennessee State University.

His debut album, Falling Apart, arrived in 2016, followed by Softboy and Roughboy in 2018 and Wild, his fourth record, in 2019. In 2022 he toured with Briston Maroney on the All Aboard Tour and shot the video for "Comeonback" in Anchorage. His first chart entry came in 2023 with "Friend for Life", a collaboration with X Ambassadors that debuted at No. 17 on Billboard's Alternative Digital Song Sales chart. That year he also played South by Southwest, and in 2024 he released the album Country and the Marietta EP, which includes "Yoke" with Julien Baker.
