About Mike Keneally
Mike Keneally's best-known credential is his place in Frank Zappa's 1988 touring band, a role he secured by learning Zappa's vast and difficult repertoire. Born on Long Island in 1961 and raised in San Diego from an early age, he has since built a career as guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist and composer, leading his own band while working as a session player and sideman across a wide range of projects.
His solo catalogue stretches to eleven albums since 1992, beginning with the debut hat., which Exowax re-released, alongside Boil That Dust Speck, as deluxe double-disc sets in 2007. He has been a fixture in Steve Vai's touring bands and recorded The Mistakes with Henry Kaiser, Prairie Prince and Andy West in 1995. Vai Piano Reductions, Vol. 1, his solo piano arrangements of Vai's songs, appeared in 2004. In 2012 he released Wing Beat Fantastic, co-written with XTC's Andy Partridge, and from 2013 his trio with Marco Minnemann and Bryan Beller became Joe Satriani's touring band.
