About Mystery Jets
Mystery Jets owe their name to a newspaper headline and a slip of the paintbrush. The English indie rock band formed on Eel Pie Island in Twickenham, London, and took their first name, The Misery Jets, from an Evening Standard story about the aircraft that pass over the island on the Heathrow flight path. Blaine Harrison misspelled it while painting a drum skin. Blaine, Henry and Kapil Trivedi remain the founding members still in the band, and their influences run from Hall and Oates to Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd.
Making Dens, their debut album, arrived on 6 March 2006, the year "The Boy Who Ran Away" became their highest-charting single and took them onto Top of the Pops. A collection called Zootime followed in the US through Dim Mak Records in May 2007. Second album Twenty One came out in March 2008, preceded by "Young Love", featuring Laura Marling, and its single "Two Doors Down" reached 24 in the UK charts. The record shifted their sound from psychedelic and progressive rock towards pop. In 2009 they moved to Rough Trade Records, and Serotonin, produced by Chris Thomas, followed on 5 July 2010.
