About NEØV

Two brothers from Eastern Finland sit at the centre of NEØV, a band whose records pull in two directions at once: expansive in scale, intimate in feeling. Anssi Neuvonen sings, plays guitar and writes most of the songs, while his brother Samuli keeps time on drums. Critics have filed their sound under dreamy indie rock, though layered guitars, insistent rhythms and delicate vocals give it more weight than that label implies.

The brothers grew up in Juankoski and started playing together as children, later forming Neufvoin in Kuopio with three other musicians. The band became NEØV in 2012, signing to Fullsteam Records, and its debut album, Orange Morning, followed in 2013 to strong reviews. Dominique came in 2015, the first record Anssi produced, and Volant followed in 2019 on the Hamburg-based label Clouds Hill. Picture of a Good Life, recorded in Hamburg with Sebastian Muxfeldt, arrived in January 2021, and the band's new live bassist, Jussi Hietala, made his debut that March.
