Nessa Barrett

Janesa Jaida "Nessa" Barrett is an American singer-songwriter whose path into music ran through social media. Of Puerto Rican descent and raised in Galloway Township, New Jersey, she began uploading song covers to TikTok as a teenager, a route that led to a deal with Warner Records. Her sound moves between alternative pop, pop-rock and, on later records, electropop and synthpop, with Arctic Monkeys, Lana Del Rey, Melanie Martinez and The Neighbourhood among her cited influences.

Her debut single, "Pain", arrived in July 2020, and in August 2021 "I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead" debuted at number 88 on the Billboard Hot 100, her first chart entry. The EP Pretty Poison followed that September, then the debut album Young Forever in 2022, led by "Die First", a song dedicated to her late friend Cooper Noriega. Hell Is a Teenage Girl came in 2023, and her second album, Aftercare, in November 2024. Her third album, Tough Love, is due on 25 September 2026.
